Proposing as F19Alpha blocker as per https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=928353#c37 .
Based on Kevin's comment, it seems not very reproducible even with debug kernel enabled. If it shows up as very frequent one, I can change my vote, but now -1 blocker
Well, I haven't tried to reproduce it myself, my comment was based on what nucleo said in the original message: "If start KDE with clean configs no crash but becames crash after made some changes in settings (unclear what changes because restoring default settings not fixes crash)"
Looks like settings that makes kactivitymanagerd crash is disabling some of services in startup and shutdown. If enable all of disabled services kactivitymanagerd still crashes and KDE started with empty black screen with panel.
I'm -1 at least until we have a clear reproducer from a fresh install.
This was discussed in the KDE SIG meeting today and we agreed that with the data we currently have, this is not a blocker.
How to reproduce 0. Mak 1. Start 32-bit with debugging kernel such as kernel-3.9.0-0.rc5.git1.301.fc19 2. Make sure that after KDE restart no kcativitymanagerd crash. 3. Disable for example "Power Management" in "Startup and Shutdown" 4. Restart KDE kcativitymanagerd crashes when KDE restarted.
If you have to make non-standard changes to KDE's config to trigger this bug, then it's not a blocker, I'd say. The bar for Alpha blocker is pretty high: the 10,000 foot summary is 'you must be able to install, boot, and install updates to fix everything else'. This bug seems pretty clearly not to clear that bar. As this was proposed by Kevin / KDE SIG and they've now agreed it's not a blocker, let's just withdraw the nomination instead of waiting to vote on it. It can of course be re-nominated if new data emerge: this is a 'withdrawal without prejudice' :)
(In reply to comment #10) > If you have to make non-standard changes to KDE's config to trigger this > bug, then it's not a blocker I don't insist that this bug is blocker but "Power Management" is a standard option in KDE systemsettings.
The point is that it (apparently) works with the default options. Generally, if it can be fixed in an update, it's usually not a blocker. We should really figure out what causes this problem (miscompilation by GCC? bug in the code? something inbetween (invalid code that's now misoptimized by GCC)?), then we can push an update that fixes it.
Valgrind logs might be helpful.
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
