Description of problem: The last update to lirc introduced native systemd service files. However, the older init file contained code to deactivate other (in kernel) RC decoders. The code is bit a more complex, but boils down to (see #662071 comment 23): echo lirc > /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols As a consequence, applications configured to use lirc but that also react to keyboard input (XBMC, for example), treat each remote press double.
