Previously uninstalling the Windows Guest Tools removed the virtio network driver if the driver was manually added. This has now been fixed, and the virtio network driver remains installed after a Windows Guest Tools uninstallation.

Description Jiri Belka 2013-03-27 14:30:03 UTC
Description of problem:
WGT uninstallation should not remove NETKVM (virtio network) driver if it was manually added, this cleaning "feature" is little annoying. I use virtio disk for Windows VMs, then I install virtio network driver for network adapter. When I install and later uninstall WGT, WGT uninstaller removes the virtio net driver which I added to the adapter manually before WGT installation.

It would be nice if this would not be removed.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
sf11

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have vm with virtio network adapter
2. install virtio network adapter from WGT iso/floppy, whereever
3. install full WGT
4. uninstall WGT

Actual results:
manually added virtio network driver is removed during WGT uninstallation

Expected results:
not sure, but if I added it manually then WGT uninstaller should not uninstall it
