Description Attila Fazekas 2013-04-08 20:20:46 UTC
# /bin/systemctl start openstack-heat-engine.service
Failed to issue method call: Unit openstack-nova-volume.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status openstack-nova-volume.service' for details.

heat-engine should not expect the openstack-nova-volume is running on the same node as the heat-engine.

# rpm -qa |grep heat
openstack-heat-api-cfn-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch
openstack-heat-engine-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch
openstack-heat-api-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch
openstack-heat-common-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch
openstack-heat-api-cloudwatch-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch
openstack-heat-cli-2013.1-1.0.fc18.noarch

Comment 1 Pádraig Brady 2013-04-25 23:27:39 UTC
Apart from the same node issue, openstack-nova-volume is deprecated in folsom for cinder and gone completely in grizzly

Comment 2 Giulio Fidente 2013-04-26 11:30:23 UTC
the version of heat-engine shipped with RDO does not suffer of the same issue, that is : openstack-heat-engine-2013.1-1.1.el6.noarch

in the official f18 repos I found 'heat' but not 'openstack-heat', where was it installed from?

Comment 3 Pádraig Brady 2013-04-26 11:53:23 UTC
I suspect it was pulled from RDO

You can see that the service file for rawhide, f19, and f18
reference openstack-nova-volume.service among others.
Those probably need to be removed to support multi-node

Comment 4 Giulio Fidente 2013-04-26 12:15:38 UTC
but the version of openstack-heat-engine which I get from RDO (currently openstack-heat-engine-2013.1-1.1.el6.noarch) does not contain any systemd unit file

the init script does not seem to refer to nova-volume either

Comment 5 Giulio Fidente 2013-04-26 12:18:15 UTC
I've just realized that RDO provides different RPMs for rhel (based) vs fedora distros; that can be the reason why it only happens on F*

This is actually fixed in RDO now, but I'll wait for the f19 package to hit stable before closing this bug.
