Description of problem: 'mate-panel --reset' must be run as soon as I log in. Sometimes I have to use Alt-F2 to bring up a terminal, otherwise I have neither a top, nor a bottom panel. Other times, I'll have three of each panel stacked above (for the bottom panels) and below (for the top panels) each other. It's very annoying, and when I run 'mate-panel --reset', it removes all the applets and settings I've set for my panels. Application Options: --reset Reset the panel configuration to default "It's very annoying, and when I run 'mate-panel --reset', it removes all the applets and settings I've set for my panels." <-- This is the default behaviour of the --reset option. It is not a "restart".
Please paste the output of 'rpm -qa |grep mate' Stefano, please have a look at his xsession errors. Joseph, steps to reproduce?

I simply log in, and I am met with either no panels or six.
Please try running a 'yum install @mate' and out put that. You might be missing some packages. Also we will look into your xsession errors.
Sorry for the delay. The output of 'yum install @mate': Warning: Group mate-desktop does not have any packages to install. Nothing to do Would mate, for some reason, have issues with AMD's fglrx driver? I didn't ask before, as there are no other display issues, and after going through this at startup, everything runs beautifully. Thanks for your help with this.
I got this when loading up compiz. Do you have any other window managers/DE's installed?
Did this issue still exits with an updated MATE desktop, we're are on 1.6.x ?
