Darktable V1.2 has been released about 10 days ago. Any plan to make it available in Fedora 17, in the updates-testing repo, at least? Thanks.
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=10964 feel free to test those packages. Problem is that I had to remove ~/.config/darktable to upgrade from 1.1.x to 1.2, not a minor update that's why I don't push 1.2 to current Fedora (for the moment).
Following your comment, I made a copy of the config file, so I could restore it just in case... The installation run smoothly, and the program launches nicely. I then had a message "supprimer les pré-réglages des modules obsolètes", and it seems I lost a couple of customized presets I had made; but I think it was unavoidable if the new version is not fully retro-compatible. Thanks a lot for having made it available. There are interesting new functionalities in this version, and I'm also currently working on the french translation of the user manual, so the last version was really needed.
I think that package is incomplete. There is no "tools" directory with additional sctipts/tools eg. for generatig noise profile (see: http://www.darktable.org/2012/12/profiling-sensor-and-photon-noise/ -> "taking noise profile images"). The "tools" directory can be found in sources tarball: http://sourceforge.net/projects/darktable/files/darktable/1.2/darktable-1.2.tar.xz/download Scripts IHMO should be stored in /usr/share/darktable/tools/ or (better?) /usr/share/darktable-tools/.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
