Created attachment 739789 [details] screenshot Description of problem: Anaconda shows passwords when user is entering them. Please, do not show them by default, use some checkbox to enable/disable this functionality. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): anaconda-19.21 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start graphical installation 2. proceed to entering root password 3. enter root password Actual results: password is readable when typing Expected results: password is not readable by default See attached sreenshot.
This was discussed on anaconda-patches, but basically: There's no reason to use a checkbox here. That's an extra widget that gains us nothing. Passwords are only shown when focused, which is an idea that is gaining traction in lots of websites and other programs. There's some research showing that hiding the passwords doesn't even provide anything in the way of security, either.
