RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Fixed In Version: ovirt-node-3.0.1-7.el6
Doc Type: Enhancement
Doc Text:
Currently the hypervisor can support configure logrotate maxsize from the TUI, but it doesn't support it for automated installation. This is now supported. Support was added for setting logrotate_max_size in cmdline args: logrotate_max_size=number. This information is then used to set logrotate_max_size during an auto installation..

Description haiyang,dong 2013-07-22 08:14:01 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently rhev-h can support configure logrotate maxsize form TUI, but it doesn't support for Automated installation.
So it would be better if RHEV-H support to configure logrotate maxsize for Automated Installation

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhev-hypervisor6-6.5-20130222.0.auto1744.el6
ovirt-node-3.0.0-999.0.20130719134242gitb6ab8be.el6.noarch

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual results:
RHEV-H only support to configure logrotate maxsize for TUI.

Expected results:
It would be better if RHEV-H support to configure logrotate maxsize for Automated Installation.

Additional info:

Comment 4 haiyang,dong 2013-10-20 07:17:37 UTC
Test version:
rhev-hypervisor6-6.5-20131017.0.iso
ovirt-node-3.0.1-4.el6

Test step:
auto install with "BOOTIF=eth0 storage_init=/dev/sda logrotate_max_size=2048 firstboot"

After auto install success, check that the item of "Logrotate Max Log Size" still shown "1024", and the size of the file "/etc/logrotate.d/ovirt-node " also didn't
 change.

[root@dhcp-9-178 admin]# cat /etc/logrotate.d/ovirt-node
/var/log/ovirt*.log {
    rotate 3
    compress
    missingok
    size 1M
    create
}

So this bug hasn't fixed, need to re-assigned again.

Comment 6 haiyang,dong 2013-11-01 05:52:19 UTC
Test version:
rhevh-6.5-20131031.1.0.iso
ovirt-node-3.0.1-7.el6

Test step:
auto install with "BOOTIF=eth0 storage_init=/dev/sda logrotate_max_size=2048 firstboot"

After auto install success, check that the item of "Logrotate Max Log Size" was shown "2048", and the size of the file "/etc/logrotate.d/ovirt-node " also
 changed.

[root@dhcp-9-178 admin]# cat /etc/logrotate.d/ovirt-node
/var/log/ovirt*.log {
    rotate 3
    compress
    missingok
    size 2048
    create
