Description eepdpb 2000-03-02 14:12:59 UTC
I've recently upgraded a few machines to RH6.1. and have had problems
printing to remote printers. I've used the printtool to make the printcap
files, and all filtering is done on the remote print server (also running
6.1).
Printing to the remote queues is fine on a Pentium II machine, but failed
on an Athlon ;( Both machines have exactly the same setup (did them both
the same morning) the only difference being that the Athlon has its kernel
compiled as 386 processor type.
Additionally, after recompiling the kernel on the PII machine to '386',
printing breaks on that machine too.
Kernel problem, or lpr problem maybe?

Added twaugh to CC list so that he can investigate.

How exactly does it fail? Does it remain in the queue or disappear? Is lpd
still running at the client?
