Vulnerability in the MySQL Server component of Oracle MySQL (subcomponent: Server: Audit Plug-in). Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.17 and earlier. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server.
The information shared by Oracle does not make it clear if this CVE is for an issue in the NULL Audit plugin that is part of the MySQL Community edition, or whether it applies to the MySQL Enterprise Audit feature of the MySQL Enterprise version. It seems this may be for this issue corrected in the null_audit:
For the null_audit plugin, setting the null_audit_event_record system
variable improperly could cause a server exit. This variable should be
set only from within the null_audit plugin, so it is now read only.
