screen-cast: refresh System tree

Comment 2 Einav Cohen 2014-01-24 18:00:13 UTC
- left-pane tree is not being automatically refreshed (tree refresh is a fairly heavy operation) - therefore, changes done by the GUI user as well as changes done by other users are not automatically reflected.

- you don't need to refresh the entire browser's window/tab (F5) to workaround - we have the "refresh" button in the System tree section for that (see attachment 855073 [details])

i tried, it doesn't work.
please try it on the above described scenario.
in addition, i would say that we need to choose ... why tree + tabs ?

the above described scenario doesn't mention clicking on 'the "refresh" button in the System tree section'. if you will do that, you will find out that the newly-added network appears in the tree (see attachment 878120 [details]). Currently, clicking on the "refresh" button collapses the tree, so you need to expand the 'Networks' tree-node (after clicking on "refresh") in order to see the newly-added network - this usability issue is documented in bug 1072505.

the general improvement request (i.e. automatically refreshing the tree / keeping the tree sync'd without having to click on any "refresh" button) is already documented in bug 987953 and in bug 879077 - is there any reason to not close this BZ on a duplicate of one of them?

> in addition, i would say that we need to choose ... why tree + tabs ?

I am not sure that I understand this sentence - do you mean that we don't need both the tree and the main-tabs in the system and we can get rid of one of them? we already have a similar request in bug 1011186 that is questioning the necessity of the tree in the GUI.
