Patch for upgrading to Version 2.7.3 none

Description gil cattaneo 2015-06-24 18:33:31 UTC
Latest upstream release: 2.6.0
Current version/release in rawhide: 2.4.1-9.fc23
URL: http://www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/stable2/

This release is required by solr 5.2.1

Comment 1 Jan Kurik 2015-07-15 13:55:14 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 23 development cycle.
Changing version to '23'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 23 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 23 End Of Life. Thank you.)

Comment 2 Orion Poplawski 2015-08-18 01:22:36 UTC
Looks like 2.7.1 is out now. Does anyone care about hadoop in Fedora or shall we just retire it?

Comment 3 Robert Rati 2015-08-24 15:12:58 UTC
I think there is some interest from other packages, but I no longer have the time to maintain this and the other hadoop related big data packages. I sent out a request for maintainers, but there hasn't been much action. We might have to retire the majority, if not all, of the hadoop related big data packages.

I would to at least co-maintain a few of the Hadoop-related packages. However, I cannot commit to spend too much time on it. As a first step, I may try to upgrade to Hadoop 2.7.
Also, I will file a few bugs (e.g., in hadoop-httpfs), and try to propose patches for them.

Comment 6 Christopher Tubbs 2016-06-23 16:28:31 UTC
I've taken Hadoop for f24+, but I would be grateful for any help co-maintaining. I'm thinking we should update to the latest 2.7.x in rawhide, but I'm not confident about upgrade paths for users. Can hadoop upgrade from 2.4 to 2.7?

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2016-11-24 11:57:26 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2017-02-28 09:45:42 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 26 development cycle.
Changing version to '26'.

Patch for upgrading to Version 2.7.3

The patch is a "git diff" between master and the branch I created to get 2.7.3 to build.
