Description of problem:

Cannot open 'Applications -> System Tools -> System Log' using Gnome

How reproducible: Always


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to Gnome
2. Open System Log from Applications -> System Tools
3. 

Actual results: It fails


Expected results: Should not fail


Additional info:

Following error is seen in /var/log/messages when it fails

gnome-system-log.desktop: Refusing to render service to dead parents.

This is similar to bug 1474299, which is a duplicate of bug 1487248.
