I haven't been able ro reproduce this issue.

Are you able to reproduce the error on demand ?
What is Preferences: Recording Plathrough: [ ]Overdub, [ ] Software Playthrough ?

I have Fedora 28 with current Audacity, 2.2.2, Lenovo X120e.


I am recording from a USB device connected to an amp. Works fine, except.  If I enable Preferences > Recording > Software playthrough of input, then start a recording, Audacty quits.  I have not seen any errors posted to /var/log/messages.  If there is somewhere else to check, this should not be too hard to replicate.

Looking more at this bug, my problem is different.  So I am willing to open a separate bug report.

Same bug here! Turning off overdub in the recording settings solves the issue as a quick fix.

Maybe some ALSA/PulseAudio issue, but I'm not competent in these.

While there has been no specific fix for this issue, Audacity 2.3.0 has been released and package built.

Can you please check your issue with this version and re-open if it still occurs, listing the package version and fedora release which showed the problem.
