Description of problem:
I was using kernel 2.6.9-1.667 which worked fine. Ran up2date which updated kernel to 2.6.11-1.27, new kernel fails to boot, hangs on loading cups services & eventually runs out of memory (10-12 min.)Interactive boot taking option N for cups services works fine. Any suggestions ?

1.Reinstalled system & updated kernel again.
2.Boot from kernel 2.6.11-1.27 on i386 machine

This sounds like bug #146472 which may be related to bug #127174 or bug #144726
