virt-viewer in el8 is configure/built without the --with-osid=rhel%{?rhel} that we have in el7. If we add this back, remote-viewer -V should show the osid again.
*** Bug 1688734 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I'm not a rhv QE, so i'm sorry that i cannot tell if this will affect their internal testing. But if they do not use RHEL8.0, i think it's fine to move this to 8.1. Testing with build: virt-viewer-7.0-4.el8.x86_64 Steps: 1. Display remote-viewer verbose information. $ remote-viewer --version remote-viewer version 7.0-4.el8 (OS ID: rhel8) $ remote-viewer -V remote-viewer version 7.0-4.el8 (OS ID: rhel8) Result: OS ID info show correctly Verify this bug with new build: virt-viewer-7.0-5.el8.x86_64 Steps: 1. Display remote-viewer verbose information. $ remote-viewer --version remote-viewer version 7.0-5.el8 (OS ID: rhel8) $ remote-viewer -V remote-viewer version 7.0-5.el8 (OS ID: rhel8) Result: OS ID info show correctly So I move this bug from ON_QA to VERIFIED.
