RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Xiaodai Wang 2018-12-17 12:14:08 UTC
Description of problem:
'remote-viewer -V' doesn't show OS ID info

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
virt-viewer-7.0-2.el8.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run 'remote-viewer -V'

Actual results:
# remote-viewer -V
remote-viewer version 7.0-2.el8

Expected results:
"OS ID:xxx" info should be appended to remote-viewer version information.

Additional info:

Comment 1 Christophe Fergeau 2018-12-17 12:56:25 UTC
virt-viewer in el8 is configure/built without the --with-osid=rhel%{?rhel} that we have in el7. If we add this back, remote-viewer -V should show the osid again.

Comment 5 Xiaodai Wang 2019-03-23 02:41:54 UTC
I'm not a rhv QE, so i'm sorry that i cannot tell if this will affect their internal testing.
But if they do not use RHEL8.0, i think it's fine to move this to 8.1.

Comment 13 zhoujunqin 2019-07-22 06:21:02 UTC
Testing with build:
virt-viewer-7.0-4.el8.x86_64

Steps:
1. Display remote-viewer verbose information.
$ remote-viewer  --version
remote-viewer version 7.0-4.el8 (OS ID: rhel8)

$ remote-viewer  -V
remote-viewer version 7.0-4.el8 (OS ID: rhel8)

Result: OS ID info show correctly

Comment 14 zhoujunqin 2019-07-23 09:35:15 UTC
Verify this bug with new build:
virt-viewer-7.0-5.el8.x86_64

Steps:
1. Display remote-viewer verbose information.
$ remote-viewer  --version
remote-viewer version 7.0-5.el8 (OS ID: rhel8)
$ remote-viewer  -V
remote-viewer version 7.0-5.el8 (OS ID: rhel8)

Result: OS ID info show correctly
So I move this bug from ON_QA to VERIFIED.
