To clarify a bit more about "some others", what exactly packages do you need to build Chromium? Is it only needed for the build or required at the runtime too? Okay, I found this in chromium.spec: BuildRequires: google-noto-sans-symbols2-fonts (In reply to Akira TAGOH from comment #2) > To clarify a bit more about "some others", what exactly packages do you need > to build Chromium? Is it only needed for the build or required at the > runtime too? the other font package I noticed was missing is google-noto-sans-symbols-vf-fonts, but only google-noto-sans-symbols2-fonts is missing for the purpose of building Chromium. vf-fonts is still missing but I see symbols2-fonts in -3 (presumably vf is in -4?). Thanks! Name : google-noto-sans-symbols2-fonts Version : 20201206 Release : 3.el9 Architecture : noarch Size : 276 k Source : google-noto-fonts-20201206-3.el9.src.rpm Repository : crb Summary : Noto Sans Symbols2 font URL : https://github.com/googlefonts/noto-fonts/ License : OFL Description : Noto fonts aims to remove tofu from web by providing fonts for all : Unicode supported scripts. Its design goal is to achieve visual harmonization : between multiple scripts. Noto family supports almost all scripts available : in Unicode. : Noto Sans Symbols2 font. Can you elaborate more why those "others" are needed, what happens if it is missing, whether there are any substitute fonts in rhel9 so far or not? Actually this has almost done. so do you want to file another bug with it if you like? Created attachment 1915350 [details]
missing noto fonts in c9s compared to Fedora 37
(In reply to Akira TAGOH from comment #6) > Can you elaborate more why those "others" are needed, what happens if it is > missing, whether there are any substitute fonts in rhel9 so far or not? > Actually this has almost done. so do you want to file another bug with it if > you like? Uploaded the list of all missing fonts. Is there a reason why we don't just ship all the fonts? some are curious, e.g. for CJK, only JP is shipped, not KR, SC (simplified Chinese) and TC (traditional Chinese). And the Sans Mono for CJK is all missing, ditto Serif CJK except for Serif-CJK-TTC. I can open another bug if that's easier, another usecase (not Chromium) we have internally is we use these fonts for some file conversions (In reply to Michel Alexandre Salim from comment #13) > Uploaded the list of all missing fonts. Is there a reason why we don't just > ship all the fonts? some are curious, e.g. for CJK, only JP is shipped, not > KR, SC (simplified Chinese) and TC (traditional Chinese). And the Sans Mono > for CJK is all missing, ditto Serif CJK except for Serif-CJK-TTC. Strictly speaking, Noto CJK fonts isn't a part of google-noto-fonts though, they have different reason; Noto CJK fonts which has those JP, KR, SC, and TC in the package name is actually duplicate. google-noto-*-cjk-ttc-fonts covers them, including Mono. In that sense, we should drop JP there. Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
