Description Jonathan Wright 2023-01-05 17:14:39 UTC
Please branch and build fonttools in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain fonttools in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/fonttools /addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

I would also be happy to be a co-maintainer (FAS: jonathanspw).

I can be the primary contact for EPEL (FAS: jonathanspw).

Comment 1 Parag Nemade 2023-01-06 05:55:34 UTC
This package is already part if RHEL-9 Buildroot repository.

Comment 2 Parag Nemade 2023-01-06 05:58:20 UTC
May I know for what reason you want this in EPEL9?

Comment 3 Jonathan Wright 2023-01-06 06:09:09 UTC
Where can I find this package?

Comment 4 Parag Nemade 2023-01-06 06:25:03 UTC
Buildroot packages are not available in public. So you need to request to make them available for packages that are not part of RHEL distribution but that also need some reasoning to be noted before moving packages from Buildroot repository to CRB repository.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 38 development cycle.
Changing version to 38.

Comment 8 Orion Poplawski 2023-02-26 20:41:44 UTC
Is 4.19.1 the latest version that builds in EPEL 9? Matplotlib seems to require 4.22.0.

Comment 9 Parag Nemade 2023-02-27 04:26:07 UTC
1) I like to keep same version that exists in rhel9 in epel9
2) if someone requests updated version then I have no issues to update it
3) Because of circular deps, I preferred to build fonttools version which does not need ufoLib2 library. As older fonttools build available now in epel9, i built python-ufoLib2 successfully in epel9.

Once I see this package build reach stable repository, I will check what more deps are needed to be added in epel9 to make sure latest fonttools will be building in epel9.

Thanks.
