Description Tom London 2007-09-20 23:30:48 UTC
Description of problem:
After installing latest rawhide, including NetworkManager-0.7.0-0.2.svn2833.fc8,
I no longer get the nice 'nm-applet' on gdm login. nm-applet is running in the
background, but no icon:

 5172 ? S 0:06 compiz --replace --ignore-desktop-hints glib gconf
 5174 ? S 0:00 nm-applet --sm-disable
 5175 ? S 0:00 python /usr/share/system-config-printer/applet.py
 5177 ? S 0:00 /usr/libexec/gnome-vfs-daemon

Killing this off and restarting from a text window yields, e.g.:

** (nm-applet:6161): WARNING **: No connections defined

** (nm-applet:6161): WARNING **: No networks found in the configuration database

** (nm-applet:6161): WARNING **: No connections defined

Icon appears. But, my wireless interface is not detected (the 'Wireless
Networks' entry is greyed out).

Wireless is 'there':

[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig
