Description of problem:
As per bug 243273 comment 4 and bug 243273 comment 25...

[root@detritus ~]# hp-check
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/hp-check", line 37, in <module>
    from installer import dcheck
ImportError: No module named installer

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
hplip-gui-2.7.7-6.fc8.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time

Additional info:
A patch is mentioned in bug 222639 comment 2 but I don't know if that's related
(I can't find any other reference to it).

hplip-2.7.12-2.fc8 has been pushed to the Fedora 8 testing repository.  If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
 If you want to test the update, you can install it with 
 su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update hplip'

Works for me (although hp-check output does not really make much sense in a
packaged environment).

 If you want to test the update, you can install it with
