What exactly isn't working? Is it that sound is just silent but the applications think they are playing something? Or do applications get errors when they try to play something?

Have you played around with pavucontrol?

Comment 3 Flóki Pálsson 2008-09-24 19:17:45 UTC
There is no sound form Sound Preferences ( System --> Preferences --> hardware --> sound. ( defut settings autodetect ) ).
No sound from Rhythmbox 0.11.6. Rhythmbox 0.11.6 thinks is palying.
Volume controle uper right corer is on zero afterrebbot.

pavucontrol is working and I can see nothing unusual.

No ACV warnings.

Totem Movie Player 2.23.91 thiks it playing.

Comment 4 Lennart Poettering 2008-09-26 17:10:36 UTC
Sounds like a mixer initialization problem. Please play around with "alsamixer -c0".

Reassigning to alsa, since this most likely is not related to PA.

With changes in AlsaMixer sound is ok.
But after rebooting then changes have to be repeated.
Se comment #5.
