I have managed to solve the problem by: yum install xorg-x11-fonts-misc I did not have any xorg fonts installed. This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle. Changing version to '10'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping nx-3.3.0-33.fc10 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 10. http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/nx-3.3.0-33.fc10 nx-3.3.0-33.fc9 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 9. http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/nx-3.3.0-33.fc9 nx-3.3.0-33.fc10 has been pushed to the Fedora 10 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. I have just ran on this issue again today after fresh Fedora 10 install (from LiveCD). Of course, I have ran yum update to get all the latest updates including the new nx package. Installing xorg-x11-fonts-misc solved the problem again. I guess the nx (or freenx-server?) package should have this font package as dependency so that when it's installed the required fonts are installed as well. The issue is still present in rawhide and also fixable by installing xorg-x11-fonts-misc package. Confirmed on Fedora 11 Preview using (pre) Fedora 11 repo. freenx-server fails silently without xorg-x11-fonts-misc package installed. (In reply to comment #15) > will you fix this ? Yes, a new package with other fixes as well will soon hit updates-testing. This bugzilla will be automatically notified once the package lands there. freenx-server-0.7.3-14.fc10 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 10. http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/freenx-server-0.7.3-14.fc10 freenx-server-0.7.3-14.fc11 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 11. http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/freenx-server-0.7.3-14.fc11 freenx-server-0.7.3-14.fc10 has been pushed to the Fedora 10 testing repository.
