This is a requirement for FIPS-140 validation to allow kernel integrity checking and self testing. Originally is was filed as a request to coreutils package, but because this utility needs to be very small (it will be installed in the build root directory), it is being repackaged as a separate package. An advisory has been issued which should help the problem described in this bug report. This report is therefore being closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
