screenshot of gdm without any text fields

I installed Rawhide and found that I couldn't login because there was no text field on the login screen. I'm attaching an image that demonstrates the problem. There does not seem to be any helpful information in /var/log/gdm. Is there any other information I can provide that would be helpful? Thanks.

I suppose I should have mentioned that the system has gdm-2.28.0-9.fc12.x86_64.
