I am trying to work around this.  I uninstalled gnome-icon-theme-extras, which uninstalled rhythmbox as well.

Now I am updating; it seems to work.  After that, I will try to re-install rhythmbox.

FYI: reinstaling rhythmbox doesn't work either :)
