According to upstream there is not much he can do to fix this without a major
rewrite of ristretto. The rewrite is in progress and ristretto 0.1.0 will be
included in Fedora 14.

I'm now closing the bug UPSTREAM because this is where further investigation should take place. Thanks for reporting this bug.
