Removing ~/.projectM does not solve this issue, so it is not just a configuration problem. Running vlc with the projectM visualizations does NOT show this problem. Backtrace analysis found this bug to be similar to bug #796002, closing as duplicate. This bug seems to belong to component qt or gcc.
