Description prudy 2011-12-08 13:22:48 UTC
Description of problem:
Using mouse to move windows in KDE (kwin) makes them to jump to the top-left of the screen prior to move. Resizing windows makes them small in a first step, then they can be resized while the mouse pointer is far from the window itself.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Install or upgrade to Fedora 16 with KDE. Use custom e.g. aurorae based 'Glowglass-Cupertino' window decoration (via system settings->window decorations->get new decorations...).

Steps to Reproduce:
Moving:
1. Place the mouse pointer on the kwin window frame titlebar of any window and click there
2. Move the mouse

Resizing:
1. Place the mouse pointer on bottom-right corner of the kwin window frame of any window and click there
2. Move the mouse

Actual results:
Moving:
1. The mouse cursor changes from standard to moving cursor
2. The whole window initially jumps to the top-left of the screen, while the mouse cursor keeps its position. Then the window can be moved with the mouse-to-window constant offset.

Resizing:
1. The mouse cursor changes from standard to resizing cursor
2. The whole window initially resizes to smaller size, while the mouse cursor keeps its position. Then the window can be resized with the mouse-to-window constant offset.

Expected results:
Moving:
1. The mouse cursor changes from standard to moving cursor
2. The window does not initially jump to the top-left of the screen.

Resizing:
1. The mouse cursor changes from standard to resizing cursor
2. The window does not initially resizes to the smaller size.

Additional info:
Problem seems to be related to the decorations bases on a decoration.svgz file. This is not reproducible on default plugin-based decorations.

Yes, all aurorae-based themes are known to be affected by this bad behavior.

Actually, this appears to be separate from bug #747644, which appears to be independent of the window decoration used (though it might be related in some way).

On the other hand, this is clearly the same as bug #759907.
