I have found exactly the same problem trying to install Red Hat 8.0 from the ftp ftp.redhat.com site. Using ADSL it takes 5 hours to down load a disk; 5 disks take 25 hours. Then there's the cutting of the disks. Then there's the install. When it doesn't work, you try re-downloading (I'm now up to around 15 downloads = 3 full days) I reckon I have installed most of the system by doing it in chunks of 200Mb (and losing 20% of the installs). It has only taken me 6 days!!! Offering a patch at another site does not really seem to be very sensible solution. Amending the iso files seems much more intelligent response to the problem. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 75377 *** *** Bug 89093 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Changed to 'CLOSED' state since 'RESOLVED' has been deprecated. |
