Description J.C. Molet 2013-03-13 18:49:09 UTC
Created attachment 709763 [details]
unknown while registered

Description of problem:
When you are not registered, your product status is unknown. After registering your product status should be known immediately (it is via the cli). The GUI, however, takes a long time to update this status.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
subscription-manager-gui-1.8.4-1.git.24.36ea5ff.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start with an unregistered machine and verify that your product statuses are unknown in subscription-manager-gui
2. register to your candlepin server of choice

Actual results:
It takes something like 2 minutes before the product statuses are updated.

Expected results:
A call is made during the register process to update your product statues.

Comment 1 Alex Wood 2013-03-21 18:43:10 UTC
I was not able to reproduce the issue exactly as described in the original report.

The only time I see a problem in updates to product status is when you register (and auto-subscribe) with products that you do not have entitlements for. Furthermore, I don't see a lag in update time; instead, the products never update at all.

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2013-04-09 20:55:07 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion
in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux release. Product Management has

deployed products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in
a release.

Comment 3 Carter Kozak 2013-06-04 13:38:04 UTC
As of subscription-manager 1.8.8 this is no longer a problem. Confirmed by reporter.

Tried to reproduce scenario from comment 1 but the GUI gets updated quickly enough if not real time.

Marking VERIFIED
