Description of problem: Trying to install Fedora 20 from a USB pen created with "Fedora LiveUSB Creator" using the Fedora NetInst ISO fails on an EFI system. The paths for the kernel and initrd are wrong. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 20, Net Install ISO image liveusb-creator-3.12.0-1.fc19.noarch How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use LiveUSB Creator to install ISO onto newly formatted USB pen drive 2. Configure target system for EFI booting only 3. Boot target system from USB pen drive 4. Select any option on the boot menu Actual results: error: file '/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz' not found error: you need to load the kernel first Expected results: System would boot into the Fedora installer Additional info: Tested on a Lenovo laptop, configured for EFI boot only, SecureBoot disabled. Same procedure works flawlessly using a Fedora 19 Net Install ISO.
I ran into this bug as well. The work-around was to manually change the paths in the EFI/BOOT/grub.cfg from /images/pxeboot to /syslinux. I found that from an older report on this issue at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851220#c0.
The liveusb-creator currently only supports Live images. The netinst or DVD might not work properly. The tool should either reject unsupported ISO's or add support for them.
Note that livecd-iso-to-disk supports boot.iso and dvd, you can use it as an example of what needs to be done.
The latest version of the liveusb-creator supports DVD/boot isos with the 'Overwrite device' installation method.
