Description of problem: I have a Dell Inspiron 4150 with BIOS A06. RHL8/9 and severn beta 1 was fine, I now have a problem with beta 2 and 2.4.22-1.2061.nptl. On the first boot after installing from CDROM, the boot locked up with two error messages about my /dev/hdc (CDROM/DVD drive). I poweroff the laptop and removed the CDROM/DVD drive. It now boots ok. With my CDROM/DVD drive out, here is my dmesg output: Linux version 2.4.22-1.2061.nptl (bhcompile.redhat.com) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-6)) #1 Mon Sep 22 14:39:36 EDT 2003 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000003ffe2800 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000003ffe2800 - 0000000040000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000feda0000 - 00000000fee00000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000ffb80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) 127MB HIGHMEM available. 896MB LOWMEM available. Does it work if you pass acpi=on at boot time ?
Still a problem with test3 ?
Seems to boot fine now. No problems.
