Description Yedidyah Bar David 2014-01-23 15:00:32 UTC
Description of problem:

'Guest Agent Data' under 'Network Interfaces' is empty, after an engine setup and creation of a VM with guest agent.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

3.4.0 beta1

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. engine-setup
2. Create a VM, install and start guest agent inside it
3. Check VM info in the web admin

Actual results:

Some info is shown, including logged in user and installed applications, but 'Guest Agent Data' is empty

Expected results:

'Guest Agent Data' is shown

Additional info:

Restarting the browser solves this. Just login/logout does not.
I found out that restarting the browser might solve this in bug 907781 comment 7. If there is no better solution, at least better docs can help, e.g. a note in the admin interface under 'Guest Agent Data' suggesting to restart the browser.

Doesn't sound like a blocker, and also need some more information to locate the problem.

Didi, does refreshing the browser help? What about switching the main tab, then returning to the VMs/interfaces subtab?

Comment 2 Lior Vernia 2014-02-20 14:07:01 UTC
As far as I can tell, initially when installing the guest agent nothing appears in the webadmin console (neither networking information nor installed applications, etc.). If the VM is then rebooted, then just refreshing the VM main tab is enough for all information to show. Putting ON_QA for further investigation.

Comment 3 Martin Pavlik 2014-02-28 10:15:22 UTC
For me behavior on 3.4.0 beta3 was as follows:

with Fedora 19 VM after installing ovirt-guest-agent and starting it, all info was shown in GUI

with windows 7 64bit VM after installing RHEV-Tools 3.4.1 I was asked to reboot the machine after reboot all info was shown

so I am closing this BZ as current release
