Description Karel Volný 2014-02-06 11:38:07 UTC
Description of problem:
SSIA
with the old design, I could see more tasks/result lines at once
with the new one I have to scroll like crazy

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
0.15.3

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. get 15'' (or smaller, the smaller the better) laptop
2. inspect results of some job
3. stare at the screen
4. inspect also other pages

Actual results:
you see three tasks at most
space wasted on fancy borders and other coloring book-like stuff

Expected results:
the page displays as much of stuff that matters as possible
spaces, borders, colors and such used to increase legibility and to pack in as much important information as possible, not just for good artistic look

Additional info:
I'm not sure what is the standard for Beaker developers, but neither me neither my colleagues do carry around theatre screens three metres high to fit all the stuff in together with fancy graphics and spacing
hence the ability to fit as much as possible on a small screen, so that things can be overviewed quickly and any scrolling doesn't take ages because of the distance, plays key part in the productivity

p.s. other than that, I do like the new look and some new features it added, but it just hurt my productivity badly - 90% of the browser window content being just page background due to spacing and padding really doesn't help me to get the information I need

Comment 2 Nick Coghlan 2014-02-06 22:38:17 UTC
The increased spacing is deliberate, based on the general results of usability research. However, the change has highlighted issues with the display of redundant information and generally poor structure in the results header, which is discussed in bug 1013445.
