Description djlowry 2014-03-17 14:54:38 UTC
Description of problem: Send document to printer (Brother HL-6180DW), and it does not print. No error message is given. It is in the queue and its state, "processing". But it does not print. If printer is in "sleep" mode, it is not awakened.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.7.1-6.fc20

How reproducible: Send any document to printer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send any document to printer.
2.
3.

Actual results: Document is not printed. Remains in queue until canceled or is eventually dropped from queue.

Expected results: Document is processed and printed.

Additional info: A downgrade to cups 1.7.0-4.fc20 solves the problem. Also, my other printer (Samsung) works fine with the upgrade to cups version 1.7.1-6.fc20.

Could you try to print via Printing troubleshooter [1] and attach the output here ? You can cancel the stuck job after a while.

Could you try also cups-1.7.1-5.fc20 ?
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=502584

BTW bug #1077381 seems to be similar.

Fairly sure the cause of this is a bad patch from upstream (STR #4386).
