RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Fixed In Version: evolution-data-server-3.8.5-25
Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
Because of erroneous code segments in Evolution Data Server, a failed IMAP message download generated a redundant error message and did not trigger another download of the IMAP message. This update fixes the erroneous code. Now, when an IMAP message fails to download, the Evolution client attempts to download the message again as intended.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2015:0561 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE evolution-data-server bug fix and enhancement update 2015-03-05 17:08:42 UTC

Description Matěj Cepl 2014-04-03 15:06:19 UTC
Description of problem:
I have spam training of the bogofilter on the server set up through a Python script which picks messages from Spam/ and Ham/ folders. However, that means that while Evolution is running and it is open, some folders get changed beneath it.

Apparently Evolution doesn’t like it much, and I am getting erorr messages like

Error while Downloading new messages for offline mode: Failed to copy the tmp file: No such file or directory

and

Empty cache file: /home/matej/.cache/evolution/mail/1385065306.17330.2.cz/folders/Deleted Items/cur/3e/184621

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
evolution-pst-3.8.5-20.1.el7.x86_64
evolution-perl-3.8.5-20.1.el7.x86_64
evolution-3.8.5-20.1.el7.x86_64
evolution-data-server-3.8.5-22.1.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Happens quite often

Steps to Reproduce:
1.not sure, see above, but I am not sure about suspicion about external changes to a folder
2.
3.

Actual results:
Errors and problems with synchronization of the folder contents (after some switching from and into the folder Evolution finds out the real content of it, but it is not automatic).

Expected results:
I know you were saying to me that IMAP doesn’t expect two independent clients to access the same server, but there should be some limits to it. This seems so obvious scenario (long-time running Evolution and some script working on the IMAP server underneath it), that Evo should probably make some effort to accommodate it.

This request was not resolved in time for the current release.
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in
the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 3 Milan Crha 2014-05-05 17:16:26 UTC
I'm not 100%, neither completely convinced, but hopefully this commit [1], with a set of previous commits, will help to address this error.

Comment 7 Milan Crha 2014-05-14 20:52:53 UTC
I just realized that the proposed fix is not the right one, the issue is elsewhere. I will do more work upstream, within [1], and then return back to you.

Comment 8 Milan Crha 2014-05-15 11:15:01 UTC
Upstream fix [1] for the bug from comment #7. I'll backport it by today, +/-.
