Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Mike McCune 2014-06-02 19:32:23 UTC
If your system has more than the allowed set of repositories there can often arise conflicting versions of various rubygem RPMs which will cause the installer to fail. The user should install ruby193 RPMs from the following repositories *ONLY*:

rhel-server-rhscl-6-beta-rpms
rhel-6-server-rpms
rhel-server-6-satellite-6-beta-rpms

Lets add a pre-check in the installer that will verify the repoids of the enabled repositories to ensure the system isn't being configured with invalid software.

Comment 1 Mike McCune 2014-06-02 19:34:41 UTC
additional:

the user often will see this in the installation log if conflicting rubygems are installed which isn't that easy to diagnose:

[ERROR 2014-06-02 14:14:54 main] /Stage[main]/Foreman::Database/Foreman::Rake[db:migrate]/Exec[foreman-rake-db:migrate]: Failed to call refresh: /usr/sbin/foreman-rake db:migrate returned 1 instead of one of [0]

Comment 3 Brad Buckingham 2014-07-30 17:42:01 UTC
Note: in order to not introduce errors, we should make this a check for if the user is subscribed to the cdn, confirm the repoids; otherwise, do not.

Hi Chris/all, are these duplicates?

Bug 1297561 [RFE] Enhance the installer to check for subscription to specific repositories
Bug 1266825 [RFE] Satellite 6 installer katello-install: automatically select correct repos for Sat server

Comment 7 Stephen Benjamin 2016-08-01 17:38:12 UTC
*** Bug 1297561 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***

Comment 8 Stephen Benjamin 2016-08-01 17:40:23 UTC
I think the first is a dupe but https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1266825 sounds like it asks for something slightly different as it wants the installer to configure the repos if they're not already (if I'm reading it right).

Comment 12 Bryan Kearney 2017-08-31 17:28:16 UTC
Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in product in the forseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.

Comment 13 Red Hat Bugzilla 2023-09-14 02:09:07 UTC
