Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2015:0039 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE Red Hat Storage Console 3.0 enhancement and bug fix update #3 2015-01-15 18:46:40 UTC

Description Prasanth 2014-06-12 13:07:37 UTC
Description of problem:

After executing #rhsc-setup, the user should be clearly intimated regarding upgrading their RHS nodes to 3.0 to enable Nagios monitoring in their nodes. But I see the information regarding monitoring as pasted below:

---------------------
--== END OF SUMMARY ==--
[ INFO ] Starting engine service
[ INFO ] Restarting httpd
Make sure the managed nodes get migrated to RHS-3.0 to get monitoring enabled for them.
[ INFO ] Stage: Clean up
Log file is located at /var/log/ovirt-engine/setup/ovirt-engine-setup-20140522142610.log
[ INFO ] Generating answer file '/var/lib/ovirt-engine/setup/answers/20140522143228-setup.conf'
[ INFO ] Stage: Pre-termination
[ INFO ] Stage: Termination
[ INFO ] Execution of setup completed successfully
---------------------

Note that there is no "[ INFO ]" tag in front of this and hence it might NOT be easily noticeable to the end users. Also, this intimation is just given in between under the section "--== END OF SUMMARY ==--".

I would suggest it to be highlighted ( or color ?) somehow with a tag ( [IMPORTANT] or [INFO] ?) and place it somewhere under the "--== SUMMARY ==--" section so that the end customers will get the attention very clearly.

If you have any better solution or suggestion, feel free to implement it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhsc-3.0.0-0.8.master.el6_5.noarch
rhsc-setup-3.0.0-0.8.master.el6_5.noarch

How reproducible: 100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the latest rhsc
2. Execute #rhsc-setup with Monitoring enabled.
3.

Please find below the rephrased sentence provided by Shalaka from the doc team:

" To enable monitoring, ensure the managed nodes are migrated to Red Hat Storage-3.0."

Comment 3 RamaKasturi 2014-11-13 10:00:41 UTC
Shubendu, i do not see that the message has been moved to Summary section "To enable monitoring, ensure the managed nodes are migrated to Red Hat Storage-3.0" which was the ask.

I feel that this information should be added in the summary section and not in the end of summary.

Can you please provide your thoughts?

Comment 4 Shubhendu Tripathi 2014-11-13 10:45:24 UTC
Will check this out and if possible would move to summary section.

Comment 5 Shubhendu Tripathi 2014-11-14 06:45:24 UTC
Sent a patch https://code.engineering.redhat.com/gerrit/#/c/36675/ to move the message to summary section.

Comment 6 RamaKasturi 2014-11-14 08:50:58 UTC
Moving this bug, since the message is present in "End of summary" instead of summary.

Comment 7 RamaKasturi 2014-11-20 09:10:40 UTC
Verified with fresh installation and works fine with build rhsc-3.0.3-1.19.el6rhs.noarch.

when monitoring is enabled the following message is shown in the summary of rhsc-setup.

[ INFO ] To enable monitoring, ensure the managed nodes are migrated to Red Hat Storage-3.0.Also make sure the auto discovery tool is executed to start monitoring the RHS Nodes, after the cluster nodes are added to Red Hat Storage Console. For detail, refer to RHSC Administration Guide.

Will mark this verified after doing a upgrade from 2.1U5 to 3.0.3

Comment 8 RamaKasturi 2014-11-20 09:47:02 UTC
Will mark this verified once the below BZ is fixed.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1166019

Comment 9 RamaKasturi 2014-11-28 07:03:35 UTC
verified and the message below gets displayed while upgrading from RHSC 2.1U5 to 3.0.3
