Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 110989
up2date fails to access yum repositories over proxy exclusively
Last modified: 2007-11-30 17:10:34 EST
Description of problem:
root@gibraltar:~> /usr/bin/up2date -u
Fetching package list for channel: fedora-core-1...
There was some sort of I/O error: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup a machine so that DNS doesn't resolve the YUM repository
host(s), only the http proxy
2. Configure up2date to use proxy and to use YUM repositories
3. run "up2date -u"
No traceback, machine gets updated
Apparently it looks up the hosts (and fails) even though configured to
use a proxy. When configured for a proxy, it shouldn't attempt to
resolve the hosts at all.
