as the process of upgrading to 4.6

Comment 11 mastaiza 2016-01-05 14:26:22 UTC
This program has not been updated for 3 years

Comment 12 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 14:34:40 UTC
As the developer and maintainer of the last 5 Xpad versions (4.2 to 4.6) I think it is a waste that this application is not being updated in the Fedora repository.

Can anybody help or give some pointers to get this package updated in the repository?

I do not think it's a waste of time. good app. and I would like to see it on gtk3

Comment 14 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 14:58:30 UTC
Version 4.3 and up are based on GTK3.

Comment 15 mastaiza 2016-01-05 15:04:13 UTC
I want to Use gtk3

Comment 16 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 15:07:16 UTC
Well, I have no influence in the Fedora package repository, but you could try an alternative, the Linux way. ;-)

Download, extract, compile and install the latest version yourself.
The URL is above.

Roughly you need to do the following steps.
./configure
make
sudo make install

Comment 17 mastaiza 2016-01-05 15:13:34 UTC
if I wanted to build programs from source I would stand another distribution.

as I understand the updates will not be.

Comment 18 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 15:23:09 UTC
I understand.

Maybe you can find another way to get the package update within the repository by contacting people...?

Comment 19 mastaiza 2016-01-05 16:03:17 UTC
NO
One can not understand why be an accompanying program and does not update it.

hence it is necessary to remove the program from the fedora if you do not want to update it is of course my personal opinion.

Comment 20 mastaiza 2016-01-05 16:09:39 UTC
or need to find another maintainer . anyone interested in updating

Comment 21 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 16:11:59 UTC
I think you don't understand.

I am not the maintainer of any Fedora package. I only develop Xpad and publish the code on launchpad, so other Linux Distributions like Arch, Debian, Fedora can integrate it in their package repository.

I agree that it would be a good idea that the current Fedora package maintainer should be replaced by somebody more active.

Maybe you can help in that, to get Xpad updated in Fedora.

Comment 22 mastaiza 2016-01-05 16:15:34 UTC
I understand

Comment 23 Kevin Fenzi 2016-01-05 17:30:58 UTC
Christoph is likely busy, but I am happy to help co-maintain.

I've requested acls and will look at pushing an update soon.

Comment 29 Arthur Borsboom 2016-01-05 18:37:55 UTC
Would you mind to update the description of the package from GTK 2 to GTK 3?
Xpad no longer uses GTK2.
