Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1142878
[RFE] Support for non-clustered VMware hypervisors
Last modified: 2018-09-24 11:10:23 EDT
Issues: - when trying to provision a VM in a vsphere environment that doesn't have clusters, and only hosts, the dropdown for clusters is empty and creating it indicates that "cluster is required for this operation" - It allows you to select a local data store on a different host than you are creating the VM on.

Accidentally closed with 6.1.1 errata
Upstream bug component is Compute Resources
Applying the patch from #1945 or other more recent versions of the list_clusters.rb code results in the cluster is required error no longer occurring. However, as discussed here: http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/8528 a different error happens which complains about unspecified MAC addresses. I have an active support case on this issue, https://access.redhat.com/support/cases/#/case/01545240 This is complicating my Satellite deployment.
Upstream bug component is Compute Resources - VMWare
Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in product in the forseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
