Description of problem: Watchdog is successfully added to VM on ppc arch but does not trigger any action. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): av12.2 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have VM with rhel6.5 2. Edit VM -> Add Watchdog model->i6300esb action->reset (or any other) 5. edit /etc/watchdog.conf to enable watchdog device 6. yum install watchdog 7. service watchdog start 8. trigger watchdog `killall -9 watchdog` 9. wait for 5 minutes Actual results: No action triggered by watchdog. Expected results: Action set in watchdog action field should be triggered. Additional info: logs
Can you please provide the guest logs as well (mainly the watchdog ones)?
I don't think guest-side watchdog is supported yet
Can you confirm this information? If watchdog is not supported this should be put as RFE. And watchdog removed from engine.
there are already patches for blocking watchdog. Vitor will update
need a rel note that watchdog should not be used
3.5.1 is already full with bugs (over 80), and since none of these bugs were added as urgent for 3.5.1 release in the tracker bug, moving to 3.5.2
At present the i6300esb doesn't work on ppc at the qemu level. Adding a dep to bug 1198936 which covers this. Leaving this open for now, in case there are also fixes needed in the intervening layers once we fix the qemu bug.
The qemu level i6300esb bug noted in bug 1198936 now has a fix upstream. We'll be porting it downstream once it is merged. Note, however, that bug 1198936 had the effect that the watchdog would immediately trigger, rather than never triggering. Since you're not seeing any watchdog action at the ovirt level, this suggests there is a different bug. Have you verified that the ovirt watchdog configuration is making it into the libvirt xml, into the qemu command line and into the guest (as viewed with lspci).
AFAIU it should work work, can you please retest
Seems to work as expected (with 7.2 packages).
