This is actually a bug in OpenTK. Tried building OpenTK from recent source (OpenTK depends on Cecil Rocks & Pdb which mono-core doesn't provide, so for now just copied the produced dll's to override the ones provided by the OpenTK package) and everything worked. So switching component.
You are right. This is fixed by upstream OpenTk in stable 1.1 release. Setting blocking by that and starting to push things around.
