Description of problem: Packages that depend on protobuf-devel no longer build with protobuf-2.3.0-8.el6, with compiler error: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz We do not have this problem with protobuf-2.3.0-7.el6 and have narrowed down the issue to a missing Requires: zlib-devel line for the protobuf-devel subpackage, related to bug 815587 which added zlib-devel only as a BuildRequires line. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): protobuf-2.3.0-8.el6 How reproducible: Very Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to build a package that does not already use zlib-devel, but does require protobuf-devel. 2. 3. Actual results: Build fails because protobuf-devel does not pull down zlib-devel.
