Description David Woodhouse 2014-12-12 13:49:57 UTC
See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/showdependencytree.cgi?id=1173546

I've basically filed the same bug against a whole bunch of different components.

It would be really nice if showdependencytree.cgi actually listed the component. It would be more useful than the assignee, the target and whatever that ubiquitous 'unspecified' field is.

Ideally, the set of fields shown in the dependency tree would be configurable, like the set of columns in search results. That way the user could select the fields that are most relevant for them without cluttering the tree with fields that aren't needed.

That would be a fairly large code change though, and should ideally be done upstream.

Might be worth reviewing https://github.com/bayoteers/TreeViewPlus

It looks interesting, but there's a rather significant caveat in the above link: "Currently TreeViewPlus extension does not follow the bug group visibility restrictions, so it might expose bug information to users outside the allowed groups. If you are using groups to restrict bug visibility, it is recommended that you do not use TreeViewPlus."

If we choose to adopt the TreeViewPlus extension we would most definitely have to fix that issue first (along with doing a security audit and penetration testing on the code).

This is covered by the bayoteers extension
