Description Onyeibo Oku 2014-12-25 02:54:44 UTC
Created attachment 972876 [details]
traceback on FormatCreateError

Description of problem:
Anaconda raises a FormatCreateError while creating LUKS encrypted partition for root. It appears to happen on systems with existing LUKS partitions. Creating a fresh installation partition worked on other desktops

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda 22.12-1

How reproducible:
Has happened 4-5times consecutively

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Fedora 22 (Fedora-Live-Workstation-x86_64-rawhide-20141215.iso) on a system with LUKS encrypted partitions for /home, /swap and / (root)
2. opt for manual partitioning and use the existing partitions (format /swap and /(root) as LUKS) and reuse /home without formatting.
3.Setup keyboard, hostname and timezones

Actual results:
Anaconda fails with a traceback (see attachment)

Expected results:
complete installation reusing the existing LUKS /home and recreated LUKS /swap and /root

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 22 development cycle.
Changing version to '22'.

Can you retest with Fedora 22 Beta TC1 and report back?

Comment 3 Onyeibo Oku 2015-03-13 20:30:59 UTC
unless there was a significant changed between Alpha-3 and Beta-TC1, this bug is still out there. Otherwise, I still had to destroy my old LUKS partitions (except /home) before Anaconda could proceed without a crash.

I ran a fresh installation with Alpha-3 (F22) about a week ago.

Comment 4 Chris Murphy 2015-03-13 20:37:07 UTC
Please clarify reproduce steps. Step 1 partitions are "Standard Partitions" as in no LVM or RAID? Is this MBR or GPT partitioning?
