Hi,

I have installed the Nvidia proprietary driver 304xx for my Geforce Go 7300
using the RPMFusion repositories on Fedora 21:

    # rpm -qa | grep nvidia
    xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.125-1.fc21.x86_64
    xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.125-1.fc21.i686
    xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-304.125-1.fc21.x86_64
    kmod-nvidia-304xx-3.17.4-301.fc21.x86_64-304.125-1.fc21.1.x86_64
    akmod-nvidia-304xx-304.125-1.fc21.1.x86_64
    kmod-nvidia-304xx-3.17.7-300.fc21.x86_64-304.125-1.fc21.1.x86_64

The nvidia module seems loaded (and nouveau isn't as expected):

    # lsmod | grep nouveau
    # lsmod | grep nvidia
    nvidia 11364085 29
    drm 300858 2 nvidia

The GDM service is active and running.

Unfortunately, every time I boot I get a black screen and GDM never shows up.

Thanks for your help,

Rémi.

The required components are

RequiredComponents=gnome-shell;gnome-settings-daemon;

so file one against both

Same action here. FYI .xinitrc & .xsession exist with:
exec gnome-shell
exec gnome-session

/etc/default/display = gnome-session

Note: If you wait a long time you will see the oops screen.
However, any programs in startup will be loaded and visible
in alternate vt1.

Xorg.log revealed no errors

Nouveau results in numerous failed to idle errors on a Geforce 7050/6101

Same here; SDDM and KDE work as they should, but GDM and Gnome do not.

I cannot start Gnome from SDDM.

Based on other threads, I've unsuccessfully tried these ideas as well:
-- changing SELinux permissions from "blocking" to "permissive"
-- reinstalling with updates-testing enabled

I have triple checked that I'm using the correct drivers (304xx)

lspci shows I'm running a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. It's old, but is still listed as supported.

This combination worked successfully with f20, and with the current Debian testing.

If any other bugs have been filed relating to this, I'd gladly copy this information there as well.

Function with LightDM and Cinnamon just fine as well.

Comment 4 Richard Shaw 2015-02-10 03:31:29 UTC
I'll add a "me too".

Dell Lattiude D620 with Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M (G72/NV46).

I swapped gdm with xdm but knome-shell is still a no-go.

Adding a "me too"
see bug 1195074

Comment 6 adlo 2015-02-23 01:35:56 UTC
Me too.
GeForce 7150M / nForce 630m
LightDM and Xfce work but gnome-shell and gdm do not work.

Package libselinux-2.3-9.fc21:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 21 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing libselinux-2.3-9.fc21'
as soon as you are able to.
Please go to the following url:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-6771/libselinux-2.3-9.fc21
then log in and leave karma (feedback).

Comment 8 adlo 2015-05-14 14:03:39 UTC
libselinux-2.3-9.fc21 is now available in the Fedora 21 stable repository.

Comment 9 Fedora End Of Life 2015-11-04 11:58:31 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 21 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 21. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '21'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 21 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 10 Fedora End Of Life 2015-12-02 06:47:30 UTC
Fedora 21 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-12-01. Fedora 21 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
