It's possible this is related to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1006304 -- my attempts to see if others have had the problem found alpha-stage installers having difficulty with old firmware on ASUS motherboards and something to do with not being able to deal with duplice keys. It appeared from my reading that this had been marked as resolved (though I wasn't sure if that was due to a software fix in the installer or simply identifying the issue in the motherboard). As a temporary solution I turned off UEFI and installed without. Thanks for the help.
