Description Yaniv Lavi 2015-02-02 11:14:21 UTC
Description of problem:
We currently only support ESR firefox versions on linux. The new doc should reflect that we add support to other browsers in a tier model and unify the spice console support between Linux and Windows to supporting virt-viewer only on these platforms.

The new support matrix for user portal and WebAdmin will be:

Tier 1 - Fully tested and commitment to fix in z-stream:
- FireFox ESR versions on RHEL

Teir 2 - Not offically tested, will probably work. We make best effort to fix issues:
- Lastest chrome\firefox on any arch.
- IE9-10.

Teir 3 - Not tested, might work. We try to fix issues that are not major:
- IE11+.
- any other chrome\firefox version.
- other browsers (Safri, Opera).

virt-viewer is the only supported client for new functionality, xpi and activex support will only be maintained to work.

Comment 1 Yaniv Lavi 2015-02-02 11:28:57 UTC
The docs should also describe virt-viewer installation method in linux and windows.

Comment 2 Yaniv Lavi 2015-02-02 11:31:06 UTC
IE8 should be mentioned as not supported due to technological changes expected in 3.6.

Hi Yaniv,

Is this bug intended for the 3.6 release? Let me know, and I will make sure we tag it so that we can track it for the right release date.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Yes, this is the new browser support for 3.6, so please include it.

after discussing with Yaniv: this is the updated client/browser support matrix for RHEV 3.6:

--
Tier 1 - Fully tested and commitment to fix:
- Browser: Current FireFox ESR version on RHEL; OS: Linux.

Teir 2 - Partly tested, will probably work. We make best effort to fix issues:
- Latest Chrome/Firefox on any OS.
- IE10 and above.

Teir 3 - Not tested, might work. We try to fix issues that are not major:
- IE9.
- any Chrome\Firefox version on any OS that is not mentioned in previous tiers.
- other browsers (Safri, Opera).
--

see comment #2 specifically about IE8.

Tahlia - could you take a look at the changes for this bug?
